the State of Guerrero. On this strategic
point (Acapulco), trade with Asia began
and galleons set sail for Manila, the Asian
port used as headquarters by the Spaniards.
This commercial activity attracted pirates,
making the city vulnerable to attack, so
Fort San Diego was constructed in the shape
of a pentagon. It houses the historical
museums of Acapulco today.
